Terms of Service

Effective date: [DATE]

1. What SymPly is

SymPly (“we,” “us,” “the Service”) is a career coaching service. We help you find a high volume of job opportunities — both squarely within your expertise and at its edges — and provide resume and cover letter writing assistance for the roles you decide to pursue.

Under the hood, this works by searching public job postings on LinkedIn and Indeed on your behalf, letting you review and select the ones you're interested in, and generating a tailored cover letter and resume for each one you select. Generation is rule-based — we do not use AI/LLM systems to write your application materials; every document is assembled algorithmically from your own profile information and the job posting's own text.

SymPly does not submit applications on your behalf. You review, download, and submit every generated document yourself.

2. Account & eligibility

You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE — 16 or 18 depending on jurisdiction] years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Subscription plans & billing

SymPly offers a Free plan (a limited number of role searches per week, no document generation) and a Pro plan (unlimited searches and document generation), billed via Stripe. By subscribing to Pro, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time through the billing portal in your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide partial-period refunds except where required by law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use SymPly to scrape or access any site other than the sources it's built to search (currently LinkedIn and Indeed), or to circumvent rate limits or access controls on those sites beyond what the Service itself does.
  • Share your account with others or resell access to the Service.
  • Use generated documents to misrepresent your qualifications, experience, or identity to an employer.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service's own infrastructure.

5. Searching LinkedIn and Indeed — read this before relying on the Service

This is the section that most needs your own or counsel's review before publishing. SymPly automates browsing LinkedIn and Indeed to collect publicly visible job postings as part of the coaching service described in Section 1. Both platforms' own Terms of Service restrict automated access in ways that may conflict with how this Service operates. [YOUR COMPANY] has made the deliberate decision to operate under this risk rather than pursue an official API partnership.

What this means for you as a user: we make no guarantee that this will continue to function if either platform changes its technical defenses or takes enforcement action, and we do not indemnify you against any consequence you might face for using a service that automates browsing these platforms (in practice, enforcement action typically targets the automation infrastructure and platform-owned accounts, not the end user browsing normally-visible job postings, but this is not a guarantee).

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that generated cover letters or resumes will result in interviews or job offers, that job listings we surface are complete, accurate, or still open, or that the Service will be available without interruption. You are solely responsible for reviewing every generated document before submitting it to an employer — algorithmic generation can produce text that doesn't accurately reflect your background if your profile information is incomplete or inaccurate.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [YOUR COMPANY] is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages related to employment outcomes, account suspension on a third-party platform, or data loss. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms, including the acceptable-use restrictions in Section 4. You may delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to your account address before they take effect.
